A sari or saree[1] (sometimes also shari)[note 1] is a women’s garment from the Indian subcontinent[2] that consists of an unstitched drape ranging in length from 4.5 to 9 yards (4.1 to 8.2 metres) and width from 600 to 1,200 millimetres (24 to 47 inches) that is wrapped around the waist and draped over the shoulder, partly baring the midriff.
